Bill Luther

Bill Luther was Robert and Ellen’s first boy after the two girls in the family. After living in the Altoona, PA area for some time, Bill returned to Johnstown and built a home on one of the lots at the edge of the family farm, just as Ted, Newt, and Lydia Belle had done before him.  Bill married Evelyn Rhodes, and they had two daughters, Barbara, and Sandra.

Bill was a salesman by profession, and worked for the Grennan Bakery, H.J. Heinz Co. and eventually the Quaker Sales Corporation of Johnstown, where he spent the majority of his working life.  Bill died early in life at the age of 71 years, compared to his siblings who together averaged a 90 year life span.   Bill also managed Grandma Luther’s affairs in her later years.

After Evelyn’s untimely death, Bill met a wonderful woman who he later married by the name of Mildred Berkebile.  Aunt Millie, as she was known, soon became an integral part of the Luther Family.
