George Luther

May 3, 1913 - March 6, 2008

George Luther was the youngest of the ten children of Robert and Ellen Luther.  George spent his career in the health industry serving as a male nurse, and later as a sales representative for Shearing Plough Corp.  For most of his adult life he lived in the Silver Spring area around Washington D.C.   George married Elizabeth Helt who for most of her life was known as Aunt Buzy.  She always called George “Pooge”. They had two sons, George Jr. and Donald.

George was a “dapper” guy, and a real ladies man.  In the picture in the next column he shows off his new suit in the late 1920’s.

In the 1970’s and 80’s they moved back to PA to Lykins, PA to a family farm where they raised blueberries.  He also loved to hunt deer in the nearby State Game lands.

In their later years, they traveled to Florida in the winter, and then they too moved back to Johnstown, PA to reside at the Arbutus Park Retirement Community where four of his brothers and sister lived.  George and Buzy spent their final years at Arbutus.
