Ted Luther

Ted Luther was the 4th son of Robert and Ellen Luther. Ted married Violet Rose Smith on June 17th, 1925. Violet Luther also lived to be 92 years old. They bought, or were given a lot on Luther Road, which was part of the family farm, and built a home there in 1925 where they lived until they moved to nearby Arbutus Park Retirement Community in 1978. 

Ted worked for the Berwind White Coal Company in Windber, PA for over 40 years as a clerk/bookkeeper. After his retirement, he then worked part time for a number of years for the Salix State Bank, and also the Cambria Leasing Corporation. Ted was very active in Richland Twp. having served as a school board director for The Richland Twp. School District for 18 years. He was the school board secretary for many of those years. He also served on the Richland Cemetery Board for over 40 years, and was a charter member of the Geistown Lions Club, and active in the Masonic Lodge. Ted and Violet Luther had three children, Jay Earl, Shirley Ann Kissell, and Roger Allen. They also had twin sons born prematurely in 1929, but both died on their first day of life
